Do you make this mistake with your Low Thyroid? You take Iodine.

Do you still have these thyroid symptoms, but you take thyroid medication? * Tired, sluggish * Can't lose weight even with exercise * Feel cold—hands, feet, or all over * Require excessive amounts of sleep to function properly * Increase in weight gain even with low-calorie diet * Gain weight easily * Difficult, infrequent bowel movements * Depression, lack of motivation * Morning headaches that wear off as the day progresses * Outer third of eyebrow thins * Thinning of hair on scalp, face or genitals or hair loss * Dryness of skin and/or scalp * Mental sluggishness * Nervousness and emotional * Insomnia * Night sweats

  • Geez, well this is disappointing!! So are you saying Dr. Brownstein has it all wrong? What about low dose Iodine? What about getting rid of halogens? bromine, etc.

  • @fetymann What I'm saying is simply this: Iodine IS a trigger for Autoimmune Thyroidits--irrefutably. Taking Iodine without knowing if you have Hashimoto's is a RISK. And, one should be checked for Hashimoto's after one has been taking iodine for a time.

  • What is the mechanism behind iodine's cause of hashimoto's? Are there any studies to support this theory?

  • @twc2007 Absolutely. Just go to Pubmed and search Iodine AND thyroiditis.

  • So if I already have hasimoto, my TSH, T4, and T3 levels are normal, but low on Vit D. is it ok to take Iodine supplements, or just eat more foods with Iodine? Most of the symptoms you described above I still have(for years), and I don't know what else to do. My dr. doesn't seem to care and disregards what I have to say because she says my tests are normal. I completed a self iodine test, and the absorption took less than three hours. What else can be done?

  • @palmachr I wouldn't take iodine unless I had been tested for Hashimoto's Thyroidiits, the most common cause of "low" thyroid. And...the "normal" levels you mention may be within the lab's ranges, and still not be healthy for you.

  • @clarkchiro What if you have been tested and know you do not have autoimmune thyroid disease and are hypothyroidism without known cause? As a side note I have many of the symptoms of PCOS and am estrogen dominant per testing done under MD

  • I was diagnosed with mild hyperthyroidism. Is iodine in kelp dangerous for me?

  • All he means to say is get yourself checked for Hashimoto's Thyroiditis first before starting to take Iodine supplement. Dont dislike this video guys. Its not meant to scare you all but rather help from a knowledgeable experienced person.

  • what if you don't have low thyroid, but you want to take iodine to possibly help with weight loss, would you still consider iodine a trigger for an autoimmune disease in me?

  • I have been sheddding hair and having hairloss at temples and bottom of back. I learned that when I take iodized salt it gets better, but I started taking way too much. About a tablespoon a day and this is been going on for 6 days. My hair is coming back on the sides but what should I do. Stop taking the salt altogether or just take like a pinch a day from now on?? Please help I am a 23 yr old male

  • @spenc193

i'm not a doctor but go get yourself checked and spend whatever you need to spend on your treatment.

money is no object. if some permanent damage results from your low thyroid levels, you will be up the creek for life.
