Ever wondered what music tastes like? If you had a case of musical synesthesia then you might know. But for those unlucky enough no to have this rare neurological condition, Professor Funk shows just what the Imperial March from Star Wars might taste like.

  • I have Cytowic Synesthesia (sound-->sight) and I have always had "taste" (hahaha) for techno music, specifically light or trance. It's a very pretty dislay of colors. I also see colored numbers (not letters) and every letter and color has a personality, along with a personification to go along with it. I didn't realize it was all so weird until I realized few others saw it my way. I was always the weird one. Thanks for the video, it was very funny and enjoyable.

  • i also have synesthesia, i see music. if anybody else out there does I high reccomend Frank Zappa (who also had synesthesia) his music is amazing to watch

  • Your not funky.

  • Lol he complains about the tonic water and the grass but earwax tastes fine

  • i wonder how lady gaga songs taste like - (i bet disgusting)

  • A better way to see how it feels to have synesthesia would be trying psychedelic drugs :)

  • Very interesting video.

However (and I'm not sure if this was pointed out before), but D to G is a Perfect Fourth and D to G# is an Augmented Fourth. You've got them switched around in the video. Can be fixed with an annotation.

  • I'm sound --> sight synesthete, but apparently I sense auras too. in a weird way.

I also got a great taste in music, because (heh, ironically) I've spent my 12 classes in the music school.

yet I wonder can I hack my brain slightly more -- I wanna taste a rainbow :) literally.

  • @yoyoboy70 took the words out of my mouth

  • @TheProfessorFunk Excuse me Professor, and I don't mean to sound rude, but most synesthetes don't consider it suffering. In fact, many of us consider it a gift. It helps me remember things. I have absolutely no problem remembering phone numbers after hearing them once because I just focus in on the color's order. I use my musical synesthesia to recreate music I've heard. When most people recreate music they call it "playing by ear" while I can "play by color." :) I love your videos! Keep it up!

  • you can induce this with psychedelics.

  • He wears his hair like me.
