Healthcare Heroes Episode 1011.1: Philip Sancken has enjoyed riding motocross competitions for years, but when an accident left him unable to walk, he went to Dr. Peter Simonian of Simonian Sports Medicine Center in Fresno for help. Philip knew his leg injury was far from ordinary and that hed need an orthopedic specialist to put his badly fractured leg back together. While it wouldnt be easy, Dr. Simonian knew he had to clean up debris in Philips knee and carefully piece back his broken bones with carefully placed screws. The surgery was a success and Philip left the hospital only hours after his surgery. While Philip knows his recovery will be a long one, he looks forward to getting back on his motorcycle when hes able.

  • This is minimally invasive surgery. All the work is being done inside the knee. The doctor uses a video monitor to see what he is doing. Eye protection is not necessary for this kind of surgery.

  • Awesome :O

  • i dont think im scared of clowns anymore

  • why is no one wearing eye protection???

  • @theknifekid You should go into it if you haven't already. It's only as hard as you make it. You sound like you really love it, those with a passion will make it. Assuming you don't suffer from any physical or mental disabilities.

  • Oh and to add. You can choose what you specialize in. Feet, ankle, knee, wrist, etc when going into orthopedics...

  • @theknifekid He pretty much sucked out all the damaged tissue and fluids then screwed a few bolts into him. OOHHH THE EMENSE knowledge of the human anatomy and AMAZING TECHNICAL WORKING SKILLS.
