It takes a man to offer up an apology, so I accept. If your are interested in learning a true Scottish accent, I would recommend studying the recordings of harry lauder. He was the first Brit to knighted for being an entertainer. His song are from the turn of the last century but are still relevant.

actually, my parents are Geordie's from the north of England. And my mother was a big fan of Sir Harry lauder. Sadly, I did this sketch before I had spent any time in Scotland. It's hard for me to even listen to it now because it sounds so fake. I now have a publisher who is based in Scotland. Canongate. I'm supposed to go back there in the summer to do the Edinburgh book Festival. And I'm a golfer, so I've played golf all over Scotland. And I love it. Thanks, David

Oh dear - what an ignorant stereotype, awful accent, ridiculous excuse for a sporran, and pathetic skirt (not kilt, because kilts don't have pleats at the front).

my deepest apologies. i was merely a hired gun. they gave me the kilt and the lines to say. i had not yet been to scotland. since then i have performed at the festival in edinburgh and i have nothing but love for scotland and her people. i almost didn't post this for the very reasons you explicate. please accept my deepest apologies.
