  • Yay! My university is doing this play right now! Our version is actually quite funny . . . I don't know what that says about us . . .

  • I studied Middleton at post grad level. I do think that this has all the markers of one of his plays, unlike for example the rather dreadful Puritan Widow which has been attributed to Shakespeare and Middleton. For those that didn't get to see the stage production the film version by Alex Cox with Eddy Izzard and Christopher Ecclestone is fun

  • @isaiah3551 unclear because of collaborative efforts it is attributed to Tourneur but Middleton may have have had a hand--also Marston--the debate goes back to 1891

  • @isaiah3551 that is debatable.

The text is more alike to Middleton's works of the time. Using a lot of the same linguistics.

  • actually the play was by Cyril Tourneur not Thomas Middleton, written 1607

  • I thought this was a really excellent production - not necessarily to everyone's taste, but the whole point of the National is to be experimental and challenging. Rory Kinnear, as usual, was shatteringly good - I can't wait to see him take on Hamlet or Iago.

  • This was one of the most fully rounded productions I've seen - I wonder if there's a DVD of this production anywhere?

  • Elliot Cowan stole the show.

  • I know the music playing when they are murdering the duke is absolutely phenomenal.

  • The music in this play is absolutly awsome!

The best part of it in my opinion..theres a superb mix of classical with a modern beat behind it..the vocals are beyond fantastic.
