Michael Karas mentioned in his latest blog post about a new prop he hadn't seen juggled before. I was given a set by the designer at an EJC 3 or 4 years ago which means they aren't that new, just not very popular.

They are made by a company from Argentina. However, the website is not working at the moment:
http://www.cabezademartillo.com

I decided to get them out the cellar and have a play. And because Michael wanted to see what you could do with the props, I set my camera to record. This is an hour long single take edited down to 7 minutes. Many of the trick ideas here are the first and only time I tried them, so excuse the less than precise execution.

I tried to mainly do tricks that utilize the double handledness of the prop, or the two knobness, or the ball-in-the-middleness.

See Double Ended Club Part 2 for collaborative experimentation.

  • Whoever is comfortable with devil sticks can probably work miracles with these things...!! Imagine the possibilities...

  • Actually, the weight is almost entirely in the middle. This is the exact opposite of devilsticks, which rely on the majority of the weight falling at the ends. These handle as little like devilsticks as physically possible.

  • Awesome area to juggle in! What kind of lighting do you have in there?

  • I am a devil sticker and I am imagining a great many possibilities. These are weighted differently but I can devil stick a ball so these should fall somewhere between the ball and the stick. Thank you for posting this. I am going to make some of these.

  • ronaldo

  • hehe,so true!

  • Very unusual! They must feel really odd to juggle! Liked some of the tricks you came up with these sticks.

  • they're just sticks. just because they have a little ball in the middle doesnt make them something new. They're just sticks! Anything you do with these you can do with a stick and these things look UGLY!

  • I guess you are right.. But still, you can improvise some new steal club tricks, right...?
