Recreating the "Brown sound" of the first Van Halen album with a Zoom G3.

No outside effects or eq were used, the sound is directly recorded through the USB interface and not altered in anyway.

@MrUltraworld i didnt do it with a G3 i did it with guitar rig 4 it was quite easy i jst switched the cab from the jump do the GR3 plexi cab. i followed the exact specifications tht eddie had on his amp. all the effects. the EQ everything and its the closes i ever came to EVH tone then my computer crashed and i said screw it im not goin through all the illegal crap again hahaha..

@frankenstrat25 You playing's fine. I saw him early on. He had a Surplus 500lb practice bomb on a stand with a door cut out of it. There was a re blinking light on top. Inside was an just an echoplex. He had a MXR EQ, Flanger & Phase 90. it all ran into the front end of his Marshall. I have a pair of '68 Plexi's (one's a trem model) that I bought in 1980 from the original owner & I've kept them stock. With out jumping the channels. But for a G3, you got real close. A lot's in the fingers. Peace

@MrUltraworld ya eddie used alot of effects not ODs or distortions anything like tht. but on the first album his EQ pedal his speakers which were greenbacks and most importantly his pickup i believe was a PAF from the red guitar u see right below the acoustic at 1:42. he also used a echoplex ive been studyin eddie for years and still havent found his tone from anything besides maybe guitar rig. as u can see in some of my vids. gotta warn u the playing sucks hard though.

The easiest tone to nail should be EVH, He plugged straight into a SLP. Used effects very sparingly. This cover has way more distortion and stronger effects than EVH used.

I am interested to see if it would sound as good through an amp live? but i will purchase one very soon and find out... Any chance of nuno's tone from the Pornograffitti album? Really impressive. Until now I have never heard a digital amp modeler sound this good. I even owned the older Zoom G2 and I had the same problem with that device as I have had with POD, J-Stations, Korg Pandoras, etc ........... listening thru headphones or run direct to a mixer they always sound BUZZY and FUZZY unless you do major EQ tweaking by rolling off lots of EQ above 6-7Kproblem with Fizzy, Fuzzy, Buzzy edges to distorted tones ?
