@sorphin yep thats true cause 600 nm is red or near it so why did his laser have a violet or near indigo ultraviolet color, seems more like that color is closer to becoming ultraviolet in the 680 to 700 nm range.

@electronash ohh man ive been obsessed with laser long time too and after i saw this film a long time ago i was even more into it trying to build my own crude laser lol. wasint val kilmer the best? I loved it when he was asked by kent if he was gonna go to the test and val replies " well i guess so seing as to how much trouble hathaway went into making one and all" lol i was asked the same thing in college by a buddy and I gave him the same line he chuckled.

@jabberwolf yeah thats what i figured too when i saw it, that they froze or compressed the gas and the bromide so that it became a solid, but then how would they lase it? because an electric field cannot pump something like this can it? i am into laser alot and have been working a long time now in trying to make a lamp pumped yag and freq doubled crystal for a green beam.

I meant to say 1985 lol , also i was just here looking over this stuff because for sum reason the movie poped in my head and now i see that they are going to do a remake of it in 2013 lol thats awsome but i hope they pick good actors to give it homage,,but the original will always be the best.

man 1085 was the best year for great movies classics and my all time fav is def REAL GENIUS, i just wanted to coment that it seems like they changed the video cover from the original like so many times and also in the original movie they had the scene where chris was floating on that lawn chair but this scene is missing from any video tapes or movies sold, i bought the movie long time ago and it was not in it????
