Could be that Slick just wanted to retire; Ventress might have paid him enough so that he'd be set for life. As for whether clones can turn traitor, in this series at least we see them acting like individuals instead of identical copies of one another. They all have different haircuts, the one guy is kind of OCD about cleaning his gun when the others aren't, etc. It could be that they've moved beyond their original programming, I guess, and that some want more out of life.

1) I'm not sure if Slick new exactly what he wanted: he just knew he wanted "more" then what he was born into. 'sigh...

I really hope we see this character some more; he's facinating.

2) this episode is a lead in to the movie that's why it didn't really do anything new.
