@assmonkeyification Middle Ages perhaps, but in ancient times Romans had public baths larger than anything ever seen in China: the bath of Diocletian, Caracalla, etc... in Rome alone. This is because Romans had aqueducts. Check it out, you can even the ruins on Google Maps.
In fact a lot of the superioty discussed here is relevant to the Western Middle Ages after the collapse of the Roman Empire. The West took a fantastic dive into barbarism while China kept progressing.
