  • I've been playing the solo part for this piece this year with my university's jazz ensemble, and I would also agree on the tempo being a little off. This is blistering compared to what I play it at... of course, I've only been playing slide since this year and have a bad habit of interpreting tempo however I damn please. I just think it sounds great played real slow and relaxed, like a ballad. Either way the soloist has a ton of technical ability, although his tone is a bit weak for my tastes.

  • The soloist is Ben Ames a senor who graduated the year of this recording (2007). He is a great tromboneist and should no way be judged by this recording. He can proform this song slow or at the tempo recorded, but for this recording he did not up to his potential. Our band was missing unprepared in recording this piece as well and that should explain away all of those missed notes, Lol. I will try to record our May 22, 2008 concert and get it on Youtube. We play our best at that.

  • It's okay except for some of the tone issues and from what it sounded like some tempo issues.
