GO here for Part 2 with audio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cbu1XVwoJkk

Harry Lewis: "Blown to Bits: Your Life, Liberty, and Happiness After the Digital Explosion."

Almost everything we now do on a regular basis, from sending emails, taking photographs, writing text messages, calling on our cell phones, downloading music, typing on our computers, and using our credit and ATM cards, all of it generates information. And every single day the endless information generated by our ever-expanding digital footprints is recorded, tracked, searched through, sold, analyzed, and saved forever. Some might call this hyper-networked digital explosion and its potential for collaboration and innovation a kind of utopia. But others warn that it also raises important concerns about privacy, identity, freedom of expression, accountability, and the future of democracy.

  • I enjoy learning that private industry has created a tool to make government more efficient or irrelevant if they choose not to use it (CDC)!

  • I find it a litlle ironic that this discussion re: privacy, net neutrality, the digital age, etc. is posted online...especially YouTube!! lol

  • Where is the sound?

  • I don't know who WMG is but I have gone to the Website and listened to the video. The author is talking about some very important issues. One is the ability of the government to have a cell phone company reprogram your cell phone to leave the microphone on so that they can listen and record your conversations without your being aware of it. The other information he speaks about is important as well. This appears to be an attempt to limit this information from being broadcast.

  • I don't understand why this has been silenced, when on their website their videos are up for FREE and no profits were gained by the uploader on youtube.

  • O.K. just finished watching this video over on

Apparently, YouTube & its cohorts don't want us to know & understand what NET NEUTRALITY & CONTENT FILTERING are and how our internet providers can and just might be running surveillance on customers. They have the ability to record & store all our internet activity & email (forever) & can share or sell that information to anyone they want to. Further, there was something promoting this practice in the most recent bailout bill.

  • no sound hmmm.
