Baen Books, a SF publisher, publishes online, giving away about 10% of their titles completely free. The no-DRM online titles, if bought through their bundles, are priced at less than 1/2 what the paper book retails, while this is generally NOT the case with most books from big publishers. Of note is the fact that new books that publish in hardback first for more than $25 are still included in the bundles which are ususally 5-6 books for $15. Baen feels this has been a huge success for them.

6.7 terabytes is a 20 megabits connection going at 100%, 24 hours a day non stop for a month. A general rule of thumb is that bandwidth should not normally exceed 40% of the pipe capacity. So the Mises web site would need a 50 megabits dedicated pipe! A typical thriving porn site complete with streaming videos, photo galleries, cyberchat, etc., uses a 10 megabits dedicated pipe. For a non-porn site uploading mostly text, that kind of bandwidth is incredible!

Maybe because you can't use internet to watch hi quality video, so they don't need too much space. In Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan or Japan they are used to MB internet connections (glass fibre) so they need more disk space for HQ video streams. But in US there is telecom oligopoly (PBS - Moyers - The Net at Risk (2006)

6.7 terabytes isn't all that much, considering that you can buy a terabyte of storage for just over $100. The technology sector has been able to work wonders without government intervention.

This topic rather interests me because I cannot help but think that the Mises institute is a barameter for Liberty.
