thanks. can some one tell what type of acetylcholin receptor is on neuromuscular juction. i know its a nicotinic receptor but what downstream cascades it induces? i mean how binding of acetylcolin to its receptor cause the Na+/K+ channels to open?

This is a very good, detailed explanation of muscle contraction, thank you :) I would just like to point out a couple of things. Acetylcholinesterase hydrolyses acetylcholine to ETHANOIC acid and choline. Some exam boards don't give marks for using the old name (acetic acid) which seems mean but there you are. Also the ethanoic acid and choline aren't pumped (indicating an active process) back into the synaptic knob, they move by diffusion. I managed to get 2 A4 sheets of notes from this :) XOX
What?? I cant hear you!
