I'm actively seeking to adopt a dog this week. I'm extremely interested in finding a dog that might be compatible with disc training and am wondering what criteria I should go by. I've seen mostly Border Collies, pits, etc. There are Catahoula Leopard Dogs, Border Collies, many Pit Bulls and Terriers that hold resemblance... many are already a 1-old-plus. Have any of you had success beginning training at this age? And... any advice on breed/mix?

Get a little older dog. Go check out the ones you are interested in and bring some discs. Throw some rollers and see how they do. Where you located. There are people with disc dog rescues already to go to new homes.

Wow. Well, I already adopted a pup. He's a bit of a natural, although I am pretty sure he's not going to grow large enough to have the necessary speed to do much with longer distance disc stuff. I may adopt another pup in a few months, though.

Small dogs are sometimes very fast. See what happens. You never know.

Good luck!
