As part of our "What's Hot in Tech" series, we go behind the scenes of one of Verizon's labs to test a next generation super WiFi router for IP TV signals.

The routers used in Verizon's tests have successfully transmitted a strong 3D HD FiOS video signal more than 200 feet, including through sheetrock and steel walls.

The wireless routers used connect to soon-to-be-released FiOS TV and Internet media servers that "future-proof" customers by giving them the capability of transmitting 3D HD signals (40 Mbps) anywhere in your home wtihout a loss of video quality.

  • You know whats most impressive moron, its not the technology allowing the distance to stream video... its the massive interest in this product. Interest you THINK will boost your business. Why? Because neighbor A will be sharing their account with neighbor B !!!! Keep up the good work Verizon, for every customer youll gain, youll lose 6 ! This should be REAL successful in MDU's.

Thats Verizon for ya, self imploding.

  • Hows that gonna work in the real world?

  • Yes the whole building that they are testing is wifi so that will help the single, the they say try it in the real house where there are other wifi device. How long is it going to take for the people that have fois try it and vote .

  • Now, show that it works behind one or two of those closed doors like a real house not just down a straight hallway

  • Impressive that this guy started working with this microwave technology when he had hair. You used to be able to let a pie cool on the window sill, but now, with so much microwave activity, you will be able actually heat it up. Verizon is making customers "future proof" by turning them into walking tumors. And what will protect this service from seismic activity? Did you happen to be in the DC area and tried to get a call out on a Verizon wireless phone? Hard wired phones worked just fine!

  • When will this be available to existing customers?

  • Now, can you stream your FIOS to iPads, iPhones and other Android tablets and smartphones please!
