Yes but schools today assign 50% more homework then you're parents were students. So why get more now?
You may see adults today are doing well with their lives, some have good jobs! Why do we need more homework anyways? Look at the Adults now, some are doctors, scientists, and even pilots etc!
You are correct, homework is still needed but too much of it can be useless. So I think homework should just be reduced and recieve homework like my parents did. :)

Working on it together, huh? Because it's the PARENTS job to do the teachers job so teachers can spend all day "socializing" kids instead.

Sorry, I wasnt finished. Accdently clicked on post.
Anyways...
My teacher tells me that I 'have' to present my project in a poster. But why?
Isn't it supposed to be the student's decission to choose what they want to show it as a poster, booklet or powerpoint presentation, not the teachers deciding for them?
This is a violation with freedom of speech, isn't it? No, it seems like media repression.

I have to complete a Project and the teacher tells is we have to present it as a poster.
But why? Do we 'HAVE' to?
I think more homework comes from teachers' attempts to get more learning time in because of obstacles like oversized classrooms, increased testing, and the pressure to perform at a certain level for NCLB. I know a first grader that has about 90 minutes of homework a night. It is too much! I also think one of the reasons is that the US Dept. of Ed is stressing global competitiveness, and many other nations have longer school days and higher performance on a variety of measures.
