BusinessRegulators Set Trading Limits As Economy FaltersRegulators Set Trading Limits As Economy FaltersThe Associated PressAs soaring energy and food prices wallop consumers and businesses alike, federal regulators said they will place stricter limits on foreign exchanges that trade U.S. Oil. (June 17)As soaring energy and food prices wallop consumers and businesses alike, federal regulators will place stricter limits on foreign exchanges that trade U.S. Oil. The new requirements include the daily sharing of data with U.S. authorities and the reporting of violations when they are uncovered. Some lawmakers and analysts have blamed increasing speculation by index funds and other large investors for artificially boosting the prices of oil, corn and other commodities. [Notes:Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill]"SIMPLY SPECULATING ON FUTURES IS NORMAL. .. BUT EXCESSIVE SPECULATION, IN WHICH LARGE POSITIONS ARE TAKEN THAT DIVORCE THE OVERALL PRICES OF THE COMMODITY FROM ITS NATURAL PRICE, IS PROBLEMATIC FOR THE CONSUMERS AND THE BUSINESSES AND IS REALLY THREATENING OUR ECONOMY" The latest numbers from the government show the economy is clearly hurting. Wholesale prices shot up 1.4 percent in May - the biggest increase since November. Energy prices rose 4.9 percent for the month and food prices jumped close to a full percent. Flooding in the midwest is threatening to put an even bigger burden on corn and wheat prices in the coming months. [Notes:SOT Vic Lesenas, Analyst Commodities Trader]NEW NUMBERS FROM THE GOVERNMENT ON THE FLOODS WILL BE OUT ON JUNE 30TH, BUT ONE FARM ORIENTED MAGAZINE ESTIMATES 3 MILLION ACRES HAVE BEEN LOST TO FLOODING. In other economic news, industrial production fell two-tenths of a percent in May and the number of new housing projects for the month fell by 3.3 percent. That's the lowest level the industry has seen in 17 years. ___ ___, The Associated Press.

  • It's called lacking values.

    Very old expression.

  • Full of ideas yet no concept of how to stop them. People know the rich are pissing on the rest of the world. Do they or even can they stop it? Not with your ideas. Trying to stop the immediate threat is how most everyone gets shit on in the long run. What is handing out money when you can teach a family to fish? The foundation is perfect when truly run under the people. Handing it off is a cop-out. The corrupt have been working the system for many years, we must be strong and assert ourselves.

  • Yes, and that would be exactly what all governments are doing.

    Handing out peoples money!

Not to you tho, it's just for multinationals and pschopath bankers. The federal reserve is a private bank remember? So they can print all the money they want. Then there is fractional reserve banking which boils down to EXACTLY the same thing. Again with you getting nothing what so ever.

It's corporate fascism. The fact mass murder disgusts me is called sanity not socialism.

  • There is no such thing as "a socialist"

It's far more appropriate to refer to everything that is a-social and pro-enterprise as Fascism. The term socialist can only be properly used to defend an agenda of Fascism.

A government by the people and for the people. Anything else defines captivity. A government is not there to murder, exploit and abuse civilians

It only does that if it's people don't mind

  • What the hell are you talking about, "free money"? The government does not technically inherently have it's own money. So, if they hand out money it's just taking from some to give to some others. Very socialist and socialists have dictators and are not truly free. Anyways it would require rewriting the constitution or even writing a new one which would not be a constitution but would be a statement of laws handed down by the government. Read the constitution, look up capitalism, and get back2me

  • I think the whole "business" concept is outdated. It tends to much towards slavery. In stead of selling labor citizens could enjoy the product of the resources of their country. Could just give everyone money every month. It's not such a weird concept.

More tax and free money, I think that should get a handsome percentage of votes. Well fed citizens are obviously more valuable to the society. Can start with a thousand bucks per month :-)

    Crime would just disappear.

    Get art in stead.

  • with a wildly fluctuating fiat currency it's IMPOSSIBLE to determine the value of ANY commodity or goods! it's not just our currency either...

  • US consumers feeling the PINCH

people in Poverty esp in Africa are Fighting for their SURVIVAL if this insane SPECULATION

    continues.....

its TIME to DISMANTLE the future trading of KEY STAPLES and ENERGY as its the BASICs of HUMANITY....

    STOP THIS EVIL GREED!!!!

  • The government creates a vale for big business to operate behind. The word "fair" is like the words "I did not have sexual relations with that woman". There should be hundreds or thousands of people in jail for having unethical business practices which harm the American public.

  • Smart you are. Since people cannot control their spending the government feels they must step in and control it. Americans support monopolies without even giving it a second thought, it causes small business to fail and the economy is then propped up by a hand full of huge companies. Small business and capitalism are so perfect. TH[]INK
