That isnt right at all. They didnt give us any counseling at all, we just heard from other students that Kayla died.
How did she really die?

I feel the inability to understand why or how is a good sign. Sane people would not understand this level of brutality.
The truly sad part is that Kayla Allen had family who loved her and who wanted to care for her. The family lived in MI and had previously been foster parents, but NC would not consider them for placement of Kayla.
DSS was the gatekeeper and no one could protect Kayla except for DSS. DSS failed Kayla, and many other children.

There are several videos of news stories on Kayla Allen's murder by court approved guardian, Carolyn Futrell.
The news on Kayla Allen did not begin until May 20, 2004, nine months after her death. hope4kidz(dot)org/stories/kayl
a/k_a(dot)html and under News, H4K's Kids In The News has all the news stories that have been released. -
Kayla was a very loved little girl and continues to be! She would have been 13yrs. old Nov. 10th. Aunt Heather thinks of you and misses you so very, very much Kayla!! I know you are at peace now sweetie, but when visiting your grave I just can't believe you are gone forever! I hope so very much that there is a life in the afterworld and that you are enjoying it because you certainly weren't enjoying your last years of life here on earth with that monster! Lots of love for you always Kayla!

I like how Child protective services decides on whos a good parent. My county doesnt take abused children, they only take the adoptable ones...whether they came from a good family or not.
The church pianist did not lie in court.
She said Futrell quietly entered the side door to the church, and whispered that Kayla was not breathing.
When the pianist arrived, Kayla was lying in the doorway, half in, half out, and was cool to the touch.
911 had not been called; instead, Futrell called and later drove to her church for assisance!~
Charlotte, another church member Futrell called, was on the phone and Carolyn was standing beside her.
No Time of Death was established!~

Sweetie,
You are too young for me to go into the gore of details. Ethically and morally, I just cannot but if you have permission, you can go to hope4kidz(dot)org and under Stories, Kayla Allen, has all the information on how she was poisoned.
The jury was not allowed to see the police report or the pictures that are on our web site.
Carolyn Futrell was indicted by the Grand Jury for Capital Murder and Felony Child Abuse.
She was convicted of a Felony, Involuntary Manslaughter.

She was 1 year younger than me. It was all over school when it happened.

Carolyn told the principal that Kayla died from an adverse reaction to Dimetapp. She told coworkers that Kayla died of a brain aneurism, and told the police Kayla died from drinking from the wrong water bottle.
I hope the school provided counseling for you guys. I can't imagine how Kayla's death must have affected her school mates. Kayla was a lively and animated little girl.
If DSS would have taken the reports seriously, Kayla would be here today.

I can't understand why or how anyone could do this to a child!!!

Amazingly, the investigators never spoke with Kayla's friends or neighbors; they never even spoke to Futrell's two older sons, who lived in the same home!
The Atroban pesticide poison was stored in the plastic water bottle and had crystalized by 2008. Pictures of the bottle, showing the amount remaining, were not taken.
No CSI Crime Investigators here!~
