I just ordered the intake. Did u install it yourself. I heard that its fairly simple to do. we have the same mountaineer just different color! lol

Which color? I wanted a black one but the wife had to have the pearl...Which place did you end up ordering it from? That gripmotorsports had it for about $220 shipped. I bought mine used for $100. It's pretty easy to install. Before you install and alter any of the stuff I'd get everything the way it should go in the engine bay. After that put the rubber gasket material for the shield (piece that hides filter.) My kit (used) wasn't put on right so it isn't perfect looking.

is this just the k&n cold air intake. are you happy with the sound. is it noticabley louder/???

Much louder than stock. If your thinking about it just do it. Check out the video I have of what it sounds like inside accelerating. Your mpg wont increase, but it sure does sound better! The result is what it should sound like stock. My mountaineer has the 4.6L V8 and didn't sound like it had a v8. Now it sounds like it has a v8. I want to put on a 50 series muffler sooner or later to add to the sound. I like the quiet for the most part and loud when I want it to be loud.
