The song is enhanced by the well-controlled series of images that accompany it. Wallace's conversion is far more moving, far more meaningful than that of St. Augustine. I'd like to think that it was sincere. Christopher Hitchens would probably say otherwise. Does Wallace not exemplify "the duality of the Southern thing," the paradoxical union of Southern segregationism and confederalism (if this is the word) with open-heartedness, hospitality (inclusiveness), and elegance?

@huttobkh jason Isbell was not on this record, dude-

I always thought that it was Rob Malone singing on the "Wallace" track.

@stupacabras - this is pre-isbell music.

@rumisouth He might remember me, My buddy and I were hoovering at the foot of the stage.

@rumisouth Out here in Los Angeles you really have to seek out quality Southern Rock and when you find it it usually diluted and somewhat pop sounding. However, Isbell and the 400 Unit played some searing Southern Rock that was obviously authentic and from the heart. Isbell's R&B came across real well too.

I will tell him...in a text message...right now.

@rumisouth I saw Jason and his band play when they swept through Los Angeles. Browan's guitar work FLOORED me. He is a phenomonal guitarist and a great fit in the 400 Unit. Tell him he has some HUGE fans in LA.

I think it's fucked up not to mention Jason Isbell in with the rest of the band members. Jason was a huge part of the DBTs and wrote/sang some of their best songs This song might be pre- Isbell but the albums and pictures in this video sure as hell ain't. Fuck you for not giving him the credit that he most definately deserves.

@huttobkh I mentioned current members of the lineup. That's normal. I happen to be acquainted with Jason; his guitarist is one of my best friends. But by your lights, shouldn't I have included Rob Malone? He was a DBT for "Buttholeville," "Pizza Deliverance," and "Gangstabilly" I believe. I'm engaged to Michael Cooley's cousin and I've spoken to him on a couple of occasions (including a pleasant two hours on the tour bus); according to him, there are a dozen or more former DBTs walking around.
