tallabear, disposable diapers make up the third largest waste in landfills and take five hundred years to decompose. The water flushed is actually treated and sent right back to us so it's not so much wasted. Each human needs to flush anyway and our babies are now added to that. What have you decided?

im pregnant and considering cloth diapers but im wondering if this way is really more environment friendly than disposables. It seems like by the time you add up all the time you had to flush the poo down the toilet and wash a load of diapers you may have done just as much harm to the environment and spent just as much money in water and electric bills. So now im not so sure. Im still apprehensive about disposables just because the cloth diapers are supposed to be less hazardous to the baby.

Great informative video, I am making my own cloth diapers/nappies and am getting all set up for our first baby in Oct. Thanks for the great vid.

so do you throw the soiled diapers away, or do you wash them? cause that would seem kinda expensive to throw them away every time

@yuzukie123 of course you don't throw away the diaper. You wash it. I used a step trash can to store my soiled diapers. Only the diaper liner is discarded (flushable unless you have a septic system), and unless there was feces on those, I even washed them too! These diaper liners kind of look like a dryer sheet and worked great!!!

Pretty song. What is that?
I like that you closed the toilet but it should have been closed prior to flushing to avoid spray.
Thanks for posting. This is cool.

@Blueskywatcher Normally, I do this for sanitary reasons, but for video purposes, I didn't.

I don't know the song...it was one Youtube put on there because the one I had they found unacceptable. They have it listed as "Gunsolo - Vallis Alpes"
Hope that helps.

I'm thinking about buying some of these diapers... Do they give you the cloth diaper on the inside that you remove? Or do you buy it seperately? Or do I have to buy 24-36 AIO diapers because you have to change the whole diaper?

You buy the whole diaper. It is not a wrap (which is one where you remove the inside cloth diaper per your description). Kushies also has excellent wraps if that is your interest.
We got by really well with only 20 AIOs. I did laundry every night of about 10-12 diapers, which allowed some overlap of the remaining diapers to use while the rest were in the dryer.
We've now moved on to potty training. She's now 15 months and in big girl panties (training undies).
Good luck in your decision.
