BonFire night Blackheath Fireworks 06 Nov 2010. This years display costing around £37,000 was lucky to escape from the spending cuts. Council managed to raise through fund raising events (including an auction type sale on ebay).

This is what Mayor of Lewisham had to say:-
However, given the financial pressures facing the Council we will need to explore alternative ways of seeking financial support. Around 100,000 people attended last year's event and this number grows every year. Crowd control and public safety don't come cheap. We need to cover the costs of ensuring public safety, as well as the cost of the fireworks themselves."
