AMAZING tubular/circular elevator @ Bank Of America Charlotte NC

I have been looking for one of these for a LONG time!! This one is located in the Bank of America downtown Charlotte branch in Charlotte NC. It is very similar in design to the one at the Apple store in NYC the elevator i BELIEVE is a Westy but not sure. The only downer to this lift is it reeked of mildew and hydraulic fluid. still an amazing lift!!!

We have 3 of these in houston. they are public tunnel elevators. they are at a building in down town. they service the pedestrian underground tunnel the parking garage an lobby. They are not glass and the ceiling always feels short to me. they are Schindler brand. The first time i saw them I was looking for elevators to street level. I walked right past them thinking they were just support collums. Glad to see others do exist. in houston they do not allow cameras. I don't like that.

the milwaukee art museum in Milwaukee WI has a circular glass elevator! doors on both sides even.

It is a shame that the highrise elevators are locked down. I have heard them ding and I believe that they are either Westinghouse, Schindler, or a mix of them both.

Interesting -- if you think about it, this elevator *must* use bumpers, because there is no way to line up infrared emitters and sensors. Both would be pointed into the room and they'd never work.
