Eight Belles (Filly) DIES on TRACK in 2008 Kentucky DERBY

PLEASE READ: Eight belles, the 4th filly horse to ever race in the Kentucky Derby, tried to become just only the 2nd filly horse to ever win in this prestigous race. After beating 18 other GUY horse, she fell down to the ground and was immediately euthanized due to her 2 broken ankles. It is truly a sad story. She was a great horse with a BIG heart!

If Eight Belles had wn the derby, the payout was 15-1. Meaning for every dollar put down, you get 15 times that amount.

How could you possibly have celebrated after something that tradgic? To me it would have taken all the joy out of it knowing another horse had died. It just wouldn't have been the same. It would be incredibly bitterly sweet and tradgic but I would NOT be celebrating. I'd be giving respect to the owners of the horse that died. I don't care if it's the Kentucky Derby or a 10,000 claimer!

@DraculaGal31: Had Eight Belles won the Kentucky Derby, she'd have been the fourth filly to do so. Regret won in 1915, Genuine Risk won in 1980, and Winning Colors won in 1988. If you're going to correct someone else, please be sure you have your facts straight.
