1:23 is kind of an error. The "flatlander" would not observe a balloon as a circle. That would require a perspective from a place outside it's dimension. The "flatlander" would observe the balloon as just a line that grows and shrinks. Basically a creature trapped in just two dimensions can only observe one dimension. This concept might make it easier to understand how a person trapped in visualizing 3 dimensions has trouble visualizing higher dimensions.

First of all, I wasn't actually talking about string theory, although there are no confirmed predictions relating to it. To my knowledge, it's only a beautiful mathematical model that works well, and there are alternatives like loop quantum gravity.

I was referring to 10thdim's version of the dimensions, which are nothing like the *actual* 10 dimensions of string theory.

I just so happen to be an actual physicist, and I can tell you that String theory and quantum mechanics allows us to make the most accurate predictions tending to atoms in over a thousand years.
