kimba i remeber as kid watching this trailer at the end of the pokemon tapes. i thought this was a epic tralier and i always wanted to see it. i have done my research and found at that kimba was made in the 1960s and orginally ran until November 1950 – April 1954. you learn something new everyday :) GO WHITE LION GO !!!

I think this was on my Pokemon VHS that I used to watch all the time. I always wanted to watch this so badly. I watched Pokemon all the time so this commercial is like a childhood memory

Ah! This is the other one from the Pokemon VHS I have! Nuuu, more nostalgia!!!
-
@TheIdlingGeek No, the Jungle emperor leo movie was based off the original Japanese comics from the 60's

@CatorsCinema Kimba has been around since the 60s. I grew up watching the series in Chile in the 1980's. So it was long before that.
-
@Toonkid4life1 I gave my pokemon VHS tapes to goodwill once i got the DVD boxed sets... so now i'm on youtube missing the freaking nostalgic commercials that were on the tapes.

Correction: This came out about 29 years before The Lion King. Kimba was remade/rereleased when we were kids in the 90's. It had already existed for longer than we thought. The original color Kimba cartoon aired in Japan in 1965 when Osamu Tezuka was still alive. He died in 1989.

@CatorsCinema It's also interesting that the only Kimba the White Lion/Jungle Emperor Leo related animation to come out after The Lion King was Jungle Emperor Leo: The Movie in 1997. I think that Kimba did "inspire" The Lion King to some degree but it's interesting to think that the final movie might have been made because of the popularity of the The Lion King. It's kind of like how the Star Trek movies got made in the 80's at least partially because of the popularity of Star Wars.
