@bigwavedaveshome its feasible maybe over wifi but that comes with some latency that precludes use as a percussion trigger. It is hard to imagine Google or anyone else investing the same time and money that Apple has on Core Audio & Core MIDI so we are sticking to iOS as a platform for music apps.

They should sell sample pads at decent music shops. I've seen lots of kit from pro AKAI to smaller, cheaper USB pads.

I'm trying this on my ipad2 and I just get this "device requires too much power" error!!

@truthburglar777 I know you got sorted out but if anyone else has this issue - the order you plug the USB in matters for some reason. Try unplugging the camera connection kit, plugging-in the USB to the camera connection kit, then plug the camera connection kit back into the iPad. Also, you can use multiple devices and not have to worry about power draw if you use a powered USB hub... the Belkin F4U016 works well.
