A Look Back At 2011 - Best Friends Animal Society

Thanks to Best Friends members, 2011 may have been the most exciting year on record for homeless animals!

It certainly was for Rhubarb, a very special dog whose special needs were so great
he was a long shot for adoption. But lo and behold, he made the trip to his forever home in California! Then after months of behavioral rehabilitation Carmello the cat found a home too! And for former Vicktory dog Georgia, it was an amazing year as well. She passed a behavior test to make it possible for her to be adopted!

Your support also changed the lives of animals across the country ...

·400 community cats of Tangier Island, Virginia, can now live out their natural lives without multiplying, thanks to a massive spay/neuter effort.
· Pit bull terriers in five cities found loving homes through Best Friends' Shelter Partners for Pit Bulls program.
·Around 1,500 dogs moved across the country to find homes through Pup My Ride.

Thank you for working with Best Friends to bring about the time when there are No More Homeless Pets. Here's to making 2012 magical for even more animals!

I just recently watched the show on Netflix called Dog Town, and I'm completely hooked. In fact, I'm actually pursuing a career in the field of rehabilitation for dogs. While I'm still only 20 years old, I've never really wanted to make a lot of money. Making a difference is the most important thing in the world to me. I'm so glad there is an organization that makes such a difference for dogs. I can't even imagine how many dogs you've helped. :)

Since I moved to New York and work over there , I have honestly to say after what I saw, I do not give much about people anymore. There is nothing in this world what make me feel moved to the bones as looking in the eyes of a animal. I thank you, all the helpers and animal lovers for your time, effort and work. I will support you as much as i can. And maybe it is not only my love to animals who draws me to your organization, maybe its also the thougth that people who love animals must be good.

Wonderful video! It is heartwarming to see the dedication and all the positive work you do with the animals that you have rescued and have given a second chance for a good life, whether it be adopted out or living happily at the sanctuary. You guys do AMAZING THING! we just adopted our first dog from our local SPCA, she is wonderful, we have a total zoo now, 4 cats and a dog, all adopted! Puppies aren't products, help stop puppy mills and adopt a dog from a shelter!

I am a 20 year plus supporter of Best Friends and will be always. I had the opportunity to visit Best Friends in September 2008 and was so impressed by the Sanctuary and its loving care-givers.
