  • Whaling is actually a very antiquated way to gain food. It's prehistoric, and as humans, we've evolved and come way beyond it. Are the Japanese stating to the world that they are less than human?

  • Jun 21, 2011: "Life in the oceans is at imminent risk of the worst extinction in millions of years due to threats such as climate change and over-fishing, a study showed. "We now face losing many species and marine ecosystems within a single generation," according to the study by 27 experts. The study said that over-fishing is the easiest to reverse. "Unlike climate change, it can be directly, immediately and effectively tackled by policy change," news.yahoo. com/s/nm/20110621/sc_nm/us_oceans

  • perfect song choice

  • THAT is the best you can do for a debate on whaling?

    Typical...

  • "Japan’s tsunami seems to have succeeded, where years of boycotts and protests & high-seas chases by Western environmentalists had failed, in knocking out a pillar of the nation’s whaling industry. Ayukawahama was one of only four communities in Japan that defiantly carried on whaling and eating whales as a part of the 'local culture', even as the rest of the nation loses interest in whale meat." japanprobe. com/2011/03/25/whaling-town-destroyed-by-tsunami/

  • A coastal whaling base in Miyagi Prefecture of Japan has been destroyed by the powerful tsunami triggered by 3/11/11's massive earthquake, which washed away their whale-processing facility. In Ishinomaki of Ayukawa on southern Oshika, the tsunami of 10 meters high traveled 600 meters inland. They prospered as a whaling base since opening there in 1906. Two of their vessels were scheduled to participate in Japan's research whaling in April. search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/nn20110318a7.html

  • Pretty dumb. The oceans are becoming contaminated due to Japan dumping E-waste on an industrial scale into the ocean (garbage of a computer or electronic nature), thinking that's how to make it "disappear". Liquids pollute, but metals release poisons when submerged in water too, particularly salt water. Whale flesh especially absorbs toxins, so the japanese poachers go to Antarctica to hunt now.

That's why the Sea Shepherds throw butyric acid. To make the meat inedible. Eat THAT

  • Looks like the Japanese WANT to consume mercury.

Is this another one of their "traditions"?

    Like maybe suicide?
