We express great sympathy to those who suffered from disasters in the following port towns in this song: 函館 (Hakodate), 宮古 (Miyako), 釜石 (Kamaishi), 気仙沼 (Kesennuma), and in many other areas.

Please enjoy Teresa's performance of "港町ブルース (Minato-machi Blues)" meaning Port town blues, originally sung by 森進一(Mori Shin-ichi). 猪俣公章 (Inomata Koushou) composed the song. (Nakanishi Rei) arranged the lyrics.

Teresa's corresponding Chinese song is "誰來愛我 Who Will Love Me".

The following are the Japanese lyrics, with my English translation.

Senobi shitemiru kaikyou wo
(In the strait I am watching by stretch,)

Kyou mo kiteki ga toozakaru
(the steam whistles are receding today again)

Anata ni ageta yoru wo kaeshite
(Please return the night I gave you)

Minato minato Hakodate toori ame
(Port, Port Hakodate, a passing shower)

Nagasu namida de waru sake wa
(The sake (wine) mixed with my shed tear)

Damashita otoko no aji ga suru
(has the taste of the man who deceived me)

Anata no kage wo hikizuri nagara
(by carrying your shade)

Minato Miyako Kamaishi Kesennuma
(Ports Miyako, Kamaishi, and Kesennuma)

Defune irifune wakare bune
(There are out-vessels, in-vessels, and parting vessels)

Anata nosenai kaeribune
(But, the returning vessel does not carry you)

Ushiro sugata mo tanin no sorani
(Someone's back accidentally resembled you)

Minato Misaki Yaizu ni Omaezaki
(Ports Misaki, Yaizu, and Omaezaki)

Wakarerya mitsuki machi wabiru
(It is already three months since your departure, and I was waiting for you)

Onna gokoro no yaruse nasa
(How disconsolate I am as a woman)

Asu wa iranai konya ga hoshii
(I do not need tomorrow, but want tonight)

Minato Kochi Takamatsu Yawatahama
(Ports, Kochi, Takamatsu, and Yawatahama)

Yonde todokanu hito no na wo
(I am writing your name that cannot reach you by calling,)

Koboreta sake to yubi de kaku
(by my finger with spilled wine)

Umi ni namida no aa guchi bakari
(Ah, I can just complain the sea in tears)

Minato Beppu Nagasaki Makurazaki
(The ports Beppu, Nagasaki, and Makurazaka)

Onna gokoro no nokoribi wa
(The embers of my woman's heart)

Moete mi wo yaku Sakurajima
(are burning myself, at Sakurajima)

Koko wa Kagoshima tabiji no hateka
(This is Kagoshima, the last of my journey)

Minato minato machi buruusu (blues) yo
(The Port, Port Town Blues)

Pictrues of these local port towns are included in my video to match the lyrics in the following order

  • I have been to Matsushima close to Kesennuma because it had been called the 3 best scenery of Japan.

    It was indeed beautiful.

I feel so sorry if that seashore was gone as well as the victims.

Btw, I wonder why people up there did not live on higher place where tsunami would not reach by learning from history.

  • Beautiful verses. Tribute to those port citeis destroyed by the earthquake.

Therea Teng is a musician who foresaw the future .

  • Mori Shinichi's Minato-machi Blues was the first song I heard when I arrived in Japan in 1969. I lived in Kitakurihama until 1973. This has been one of my favorite songs from Japan. I have always considered Japan my other home. I met my only true love, Mochizuki Hideomi-san of Fuji City, while living there, and left my heart with him and Japan. Sadly we had to part, but if anyone knows him, please tell him that his Susan has never forgotten the memories that we made.

  • This better than the original.
