0:18 - Generation of color. Like white, yellow, red. LOL

The script: "Hello tomorrow. Your children are here. Can you hear the new drummer? The future is clear. A generation of change. A generation of song. A generation of laughter coming on strong. A generation of color Black, white, yellow, red. A generation of Pepsi. A generation ahead. "

I stand corrected then. And gladly so. I'm so glad that, even in a pop commercial, the bright future of my generation was being hinted at earlier than I thought. We didn't get it right away (grunge was all about having no future) but come 1994 and the internet, it arrived.

@Smokler - Nope. To be exact, 1988. I was in Manila back in a day when this pepsi ad started to air. Talk about Grade 5 days. The song was so addictive that I recorded the jingle in a blank cassette :D

And you know, I find the lyrics in the jingle to be true. The bold, audacious future children of the 1980s were promised did arrive...and as advertised. The internet is my answer for hours spent in middle and high school longing for someone else who had an interest in personal computers & might also have a modem, so we could do real-time cyber chat. FAT CHANCE in 1985. In 2010, not even an afterthought. Taken for granted. Super smart, efficient electronics arrived too. Now we need the flying car
I think this commercial was actually early 90s. The multiculturalism of it screams Clinton-era post Berlin Wall optimism.

Nope, it's definitely late 80s. I can tell because it was recorded during "Sea World's Miracle Babies and Friends," a special which only aired once in 1989. There was a lot of focus on multiculturalism and international goodwill right around that time. Plus there was tons of talk about perestroika and better relations with the Russians, as exemplified by another 1989 "A Generation Ahead" commercial that took place in the Soviet Union. VHSArchive has uploaded that one.

who's the singer behind this commercial? I wanna get the full version...

I'm afraid I don't know the singer. It's possible that the jingle was only recorded for these Pepsi commercials and wasn't released in a longer form. I did find another version (uploaded by oogafish), but that's probably not much help since it sounds like it was sung by someone else entirely.
