  • This is a different episode from the one where Lord Vishnu slays Bhrigu's wife for shielding some asuras, and so Rishi Bhrigu curses him to be separated from his wife: this was why in Rama-avatar, Rama and Sita were separated after Rama's rajabhishek.

Any idea which incident happened first? Somehow, Bhrigu and Vishnu didn't seem to get along too well.

  • Wasn't Bhrigu Vishnu's father-in-law? Several Purans state that Lakshmi is the daughter of Bhrigu, but was later cursed by Durvasa to inhabit the sea. (Interestingly enough, Lakshmi is also known as Chanchala because of her fickle nature and propensity for not staying in one location too long. She has many associations with male deities in different myths, being the consort of Indra, Bali and also Kubera).

  • This I didn't/don't know - the first time I'm reading of that. I thought she was one of the supreme goddesses - I don't know that Saraswati-mata had any origins either.

The only goddess with known origins I know of is Sati and then Parvati. I didn't know of the origins of Saraswati or Lakshmi

  • Saraswati (aka Satarupa) is said to have sprang from Brahma's forehead, akin to the way Athena was borne from Zeus. Was enamored by the beauty of his own creation and could not keep his eyes off her. Saraswati tried to escape his amorous glances of the old man, but whichever way she fled, Brahma sprang a new head so he could always keep her in sight. Thus he grew heads in all four directions and as well as one on top. To curb Brahma's lust towards his own 'daughter,' Shiva severed...

  • ...his topmost head and cursed him to never be worshiped on earth for his incestuous and unholy behavior. Ever since, Brahma has had only four heads and chants the Vedas in repentance.

  • @aang3366 Devi Lakshmi is only of lord Vishnu giving wealth to all his children like a mother. Think twice before writing such things. May lord Lakshmi and Maha Lakshmi give you subudhi.

  • @puranicfilms Hey whoever you are you are insulting lord Lakshmi. What do u mean by "She has many associations with male deities in different myths, being the consort of Indra, Bali and also Kubera" She called "chanchala" because of her booms which is wealth doesn't remain constant in one place as soon as u lose your good path her boom abandon u. You're considering goddess Lakshmi and power (wealth) as one. Devi Lakshmi is only of lord Vishnu.

  • The subtitles don't do justice to the dialogues..

  • @puranicfilms This proves Lord Narayan is the most merciful Lord...And He's also lord of patience..The eye in Bhrigu's foot symbolizes his ego so Lord Vishnu makes it dissapear an then Bhrigu has a realization that He's standing before the Supreme Lord...Had someone else been in the place of Lord Vishnu he would have punished Bhrigu for kicking hin in the chest but Vishnu forgave him...

  • The movie is on youtube but its without english subtitles. This clip has subtitles. Where can i get this one??

  • Ahaa... Amazing dialogue delivery and expression by Vajramuni as Bhrugu!!!

  • This is from Kannada Movie "Shrinivasa Kalyana". Good Movie.

  • Great portrayal by all 4 actors. It's a beautiful irony when Vishnu addresses the petulant, crying Mahalakshmi as Lokamata - mother of the universe.
