I asked one of the Lajnah 10 years ago about the term Looti, and how can we attribute these actions to the name of the Prophet Loot (Alaihissalaam). The answer was that the word Looti relates to the term Liwaat which means to place something in the wrong place. The relationship of the word Looti is not to the name Loot, rather it is to the word liwaat.
