Saw the same thing yesterday. The male killed a female. Confirmed by the rspca who collected the half dead swan from us.

About breaking the neck of the opponent you haven't heard? Swans are terribly cruel animals. I don't know why people like them. I like mine with tartar sauce!

this is clearly a fight the swan being attacked has flown into the pairs territory and the territorial male will drown another bird if they get on its back and push its head under, this is typical behaviour for a male swan (COB).

i seein this today the male swan was fighting another swan because he went at 1 of the babies, he grabbed him by the neck and tryed to drown him

I saw this today also....extremely violent...with one trying to drown the other....and just wouldnt let go...they were totaly interlocked..and you couldnt imagine the flapping going on !!!

I saw similar activities this morning. the 2 males were fighting over territory and the female was looking on. Did film it but new to this so havn't got the wires to connect to computer yet.
