The Endurance Rally Association is planning an 15-day rally The Nile Trial from UK to Egypt, starting on January 26th, 2009, and finishing on February 9th.
The Nile Trial will be the first of its kind to take place in Egypt and it will be in the form of a massive and prestigious spectacle of historic cars.
The Nile Trial starts from UK passing by France to Tunis, while the contestants drive through some of the stunning Tunisian country side via the extensive Roman ruins of Carthage and the ancient site of Thuburbo Majus which is the main town connecting Carthage to the Sahara.
The Nile Trial heads to the northern border of Libya at the Sabratha where lies the spectacular Sabartha ruins, drives then to Tobruk ,Benghazi and heading to Egypt.
The Nile Trial arrives to Mersa Matrouh to visit Rommels Bunker where he directed his desert campaign. Not forgetting Cleopatras famous bathing spot on the Mediterranean coast. El Alamein museum and WW2 cemeteries, the trial then heads to Cairo.
After spending 2 nights in Cairo, The Trial then heads to Hurghada Soma Bay, then Luxor for 2 nights, again giving a chance with a day-off to visit the various historic sites such as the Luxor Temple, Karnak Temple, Valley of the kings, Valley of the Queens and Hatshepsut Temple.
The Nile Trial for 2009 will be ending its journey in El Gouna. Prize giving ceremonies, Gala dinner & concert will take place during their last 2 nights in Egypt .
