k were both wrong....
""Hurt" is a song written by Trent Reznor, first released on Nine Inch Nails' 1994 album The Downward Spiral. In 2002, "Hurt" was covered by Johnny Cash to critical acclaim; it was one of Cash's final hit releases before his death. Its accompanying video, featuring images from Cash's life and directed by Mark Romanek, was named the best video of the year by the Grammy Awards and Country Music Awards."

Are you kidding me? People are still arguing about believing Johnny Cash wrote this song? Perhaps he (Johnny) changed a word in the entire finished version of his song (as did Trent to make it radio-friendly, but Johnny to exclude cursing and pay homage to his devout Christianity) and may have changed the musical arrangement, but that certainly does not justify the argument that he WROTE THE SONG! If you don't know what you're talking about, the internet is FULL of info. Learn how to read.

You guys are wasting your time debating on a never ending fight. And for the sake of argument, we will never know about the song. Take it up with Trent Reznor if you really want to know.

@chuckewhitt well both are great songs the NIN original sounds much darker while the Cash version just has a huge underlying sadness to it

it's good, surprisingly...

@blairjere1 why are you responding to 'spam' ? again, you're a twat.
Heard Cash's version first, then NIN both are powerful, but I am leaning towards NIN even though I like Cash's music more.

Cash's version is very good, however i agree with what you say. NIN's version is powerfull which i think alot of people can relate to, more with regards to brutal emotion and the way NIN delivers the song.
