Who are you to say their music has no soul? Are you them? Are you the ideas or emotions in their head/fingers when composing songs. I thought not. It's not wank at all, really. Practically none whatsoever. In fact, 'wank', as in blues wanking is all those 'soulful' players like Clapton and King do. But, like them, playing the same blues scale licks over a 12-bar form for decades can be soulful, as can be putting pen to staff and thru composing pieces with rigor and technical proficiency.
