This is a song I remember very vividly as a child growing up in the early 70's. It was the classical "elevator music" song". For some reason, I grew very tired and annoyed at hearing this slow piece on the radio, and in the elevators of chicago over and over and over again. It is the only song I remember hating as a child. Had to share this and was wondering if anyone around in the early 70's got the same effect by being forced to hear this over-played piece everywhere in public?
Remember big ETO fans, the Thomas larger models ( or any for that matter) were not electronic theater organs, nor were they trying to be. It seems that Thomas engineers were trying to develop a fresh electronic organ sound that could be used for all types of organ playing.I feel they succeeded. However, the classical players complained of the lack of authenticity, and the theater organ players preferred Gulbransen and Conn. That left everyone else. The Thomas can play 100 years of popular music
@manofmanyinterests Thank you. I've asked Navydoctor (Charlie) if he had the color version of this video & he said he'd look. I actually think this Kinescope is perfect for this, it's just one of those curiosities, but as far as more studio music of Bob Ralston, well that's another story. What an incredible talent he is. I wish he'd make some instructional videos.
@manofmanyinterests Which Bob Ralston album is 'A Man and a Woman' on? It's so enchanting. I have a Thomas Palace III organ and hope to learn more of Bob's amazing arrangements.
I know it's a lot to ask, but what are the chances you could upload the record to youtube if I have trouble finding it online?
Since leaving the previous comment I have acquired a Thomas Palace III 901 ( 1st in the 900 series of Palace III models- BTW there is no 900, it begins w/ 901)
Remarkably the organ gets identical tones to the organ Bob is playing here. Those echoing sweeps he plays is accomplished with the 'solo sostenuto' ( knee sustain lever). As far as having sheet music I've realized that songs like this are fairly easy to play by ear. The main thing is getting the coordination down. The ear proceeds it.
I want to play this arrangement on my organ. Has anyone transcribed his stuff? . I'm actually a guitar player, fell in love with these old syrupy classics a couple of years ago. I have a Thomas Californian 263. Looked high and low for weeks after I got this Thomas and found 2 videos on the entire web about ANY Thomas. Then it dawned on me to look on the old Lawrence Welk shows. Paydirt!

I'm just curious as to what was the original airdate of this show; I have a TV Guide which lists the repeat date as May 31, 1969.
