This is a very detailed video on how to remove your "SET" valve on your Suzuki GSX-R.

Suzuki SET or (Suzuki Exhaust Tuning) is a device fitted to Suzuki motorcycle engines that constinuously adjusts the back pressure within the collector of the exhaust system to enhance pressure wave formation as a function of engine rpm. This ensures good low to mid-range performance.

This valve is claimed to give back pressure during low rpm's and open full when going fast. Other people think it's for emissions and it robs horsepower.

With this removed you will have better smoother throttle and a possible 2+ more horsepower!

  • I understand the process but I'm still left with the same question after watching this video and reading several forums. How do I know for sure that that the SET valve is fully open without taking my exhaust off? I see people just remove it like you have done and yet they don't mention anything about knowing the position of the valve. Do I need to physically move it to the right position? Or do I need to do something with turning the bike on and off at the right time to make sure it's open...?

  • @fergiy89 After removing the cable wires it should default to the full open position.

  • UUm another question which wire is it cause I see. Green and white one and a black and brown one

  • @GixxinStars Do you own a 07 GSXR 600 or something else? My video tells you exactly which one to cut.

  • @GixxinStars My video is for a 07 GSXR 600. I don't know what the other wires would be on other models. Obviously the color of the wires are different. Looks like your going to have to do your own research.

  • wait why cut it when you can just pull the wire out.

  • @GixxinStars Either way, doesn't matter. If you pull it out make sure to tape it up with electrical tape.

  • Thanks for the Video I can confirm that once the cables are removed the SET valve it is open.

Check with your manual to disconect the wire as i did. I can also tell you that the bike runs better and it gained 2hp.

  • @fergiy89 the valve is spring loaded and it will automatically stay open. the cables keep it closed

  • Excellent video, thank you. The hardest part of this project was getting the right side fairings off. The exhaust was a little tricky but that back rear fairing was hellacious. Everything else was super easy and the results were great. The bike is smoother and faster, no more damn clicking when i turn the key and now the freaking red light is gone. One thing to clarify that confused me in your video was what to do with the # 30 wire. I think you said to pull it out of the connector but i just e

  • Thanks dude... All the written instructions in the world don't compare to just seeing you do it!

  • ... for my bike's fuel economy. Suggesting that removing this [useless] device has no apparent effect on fuel economy, and if it does, any change +/- is negligible. As far as "smoothness", my bike seems to run better with a more responsive top end, but as I said the motor in my SET valve was bad and not opening the valve fully. In my opinion, the cost and hassle of replacing the SET is not worth it compared to removing it; especially if you ever plan to get an aftermarket exhaust.

  • For what it's worth - since removing the SET valve from the 2006(thus fixing the very obnoxious ticking sound the bad servo was making), I've refueled my bike twice from empty. I meticulously keep track of all fuel and maintenance on my vehicles. The first tank was 44.2 miles per gallon, the second was 38.7mpg. The least mpg I've gotten in 13 fillups was 35.52; the maximum was 51.06. My average fuel economy is 41.48, so both of the post-removal results are within an acceptable tolerance ...

  • @chiquitico99 hahah love how you call me a redkneck but your the poor guy that cant spell worth a shit.. 3rd grade must have been pretty tough. Regardless say what you want full system plus proper computer tune will get more power every time or even a self mapping tuner. p.s love the dirtbike video with your bf watching on the side.. real cute. so maybe get a real bike before you start knocking other pples fag, second. learn how to spell. Third im not a redneck go f**k yourself.

  • @The901racer

hey redneck bitch... Go fix your combine and blow your donkey aka "your bike" to see how smooth it ill ride afterward.

  • @chiquitico99

Hey there mr. engineer you prob dont own one of these bikes at all cause if you did you would know every aftermarket full system eliminates the exup motor.. as long as you tune the bike it will re adjust your fuel map... explain to me why i got more power after full system deleting the valve and tuning it??... come tell me my bike dosnt run smooth.

  • @chiquitico99 OHH NEVERMIND... IT MUST BE THAT ALL THE SUZUKI ENGINEERS JUST WANTED TO PUT "DEAD" WEIGHT ON YOUR BIKE THAT YOU CAN SIMPLY TAKE OFF WHEN YOU DONT WANT TO ADJUST YOUR SERVO... AKA "GIRO" IN YOUR LANGUAGE.

HERE IS A LINK FOR THOSE WHO RATHER FIX STUFF THAT YOUR MOTORCYCLE ACTUALLY NEEDS INSTEAD OF WASTING THEM.
