this is funny, my parents own the older prius, when I was driving it I was getting consistently 55-65 mpg driving normal speeds. pump up your tires to 40-45, get up to speed quick so the ICE can shut off more often, etc. PS... if you want to save the environment get a bicycle. prius is for those who need a big hatchback and the economy of a little car like the yaris but somewhat better performance. most priistas just need a car, don't care what others think i.e. it's looks or the politcs of it.

This is a stupid video. I own a prius and all the eco button does it slow the throttle response and make the ac run more efficiently. It wont magically give you 15 more mpg.

I also have a 2010 Prius that I bought for the wife and if I did what this Video says I would get 48 mpg. But if I was a dealer I would tell you anything to sale a car to you. But 48 beats the heck out of my Ford F150.

Well thank you for your nice video. I must say though you are wrong, to get 59mpg on the Prius you can't just press the ECO button and there you bam you have 59mpgs, NO sir, No. It all depends on the driving habits and how fast you press the accelerator, More Gas = Less MPGS. So if you drive lets say only 25 MPH or less then you might get away with 59mpgs or even higher. You need to watch the indicator, the computer.
Oh and yes I own a 2010 Prius so I know what I'm talking about, thank you

If you are a true eco person, you would only use eco mode on the Prius.

haha... this vid's message... push the ECO button? hahaha

The dash might say 59mpg, but in real caulculations it's only about 55 mpg: at least on mine.
I have a 2010 Prius and there's quite a range of fuel economy even in "ECO" mode. You can't just drive normally and expect the car to get 59mpg! You must watch the eco-meter, be cognizant of how it works, accelerate SLOWLY, decelerate SLOWLY, hardly use the brake. Come on, it's a great car, but this video is deliberately misleading.

Is that it??? EVERYBODY knows that using the Eco button will increase your gas mileage!!! But it's not as easy as pushing the button....it is best used in addition to driving techniques like "Pulse and Glide," knowing how to get the most out of the traction motor...
Example...when accelerating make sure to keep the bar in the "Eco" zone, once you reach your desired speed, lets say 40 MPG, lift your foot off the accelerator pedal. continued above...
