English, Hrvatski sub-titles.

Anti-homophobic bullying Public Service Announcement (PSA) created as an integral part of Ireland's BeLonG To Youth Services annual (April, 2011) Stand Up! LGBT Awareness Weeks. This year's campaign promotes friendship amongst young people as a way to combat homophobic bullying.

Written and directed by Anna Rodgers and Aoife Kelleher, this truly brilliant "Creative", produced by Zlata Filipovic for Crossing The Line Films, illustrates admirably the nascent power of the visual media to deliver its' intended message. The PSA was financed in part through support provided by the European Union Commission's Progress Programme for Diversity Against Discrimination on behalf of BeLonG To Youth Services (belongto.org).

Whilst primarily focused on LGBTQ-bullying, the vidéo is broadly gender and subject neutral, focusing on "friendship" as such applies to bullying in general; therefore, once translated it has proven to be region, language, and ethnic positive and proactive, and deserving of The World's whole-hearted support with the widest possible dissemination of it's most worthy and valuable message.

  • It is important to keep the sentiments engendered through this PSA alive and growing by continuing to spread far and wide its' worthy and most valuable catalyst for change whenever and wherever the Bully-daemon rears its; ugly head.

  • This particular version is but one of several dozen variations (posted here in my Channel) which were created in partnership with Bloggers worldwide who responded to my earnest request for translations. More have been created (and as yet unposted) with others still being developed.

  • Creating a comfortable environment for change takes many, many, years of educating and enlightened legislating. Ireland may very well be on it';s way to real reform, and hopefully all stakeholders with vested inter4est in furthering that change will continue the momentum this PSA has fostered.

  • You may very well be correct; but, as with Canada 20-years or more ago, POSITIVE change begins with just one PSA (Public Service Announcement). Ours was just such an advertisement for Kid's Help Phone and as they say the rest is history.
