This is it, kiddies. The big showdown. The climax. The cinematic apex of high school filmography all wrapped up in one neat little 90 second package.
Had it not failed, of course.
Oh yes, the weather was going to be the great spectacle of churning absurdist dadaism. An intended spectacle of true churning video surreality and gibberish quick-fire edited into a sequence of subtle confusion. Except we had, at our disposal, two VHS decks and a tiny camcorder to try and splice this together with, so the rapid fire descended quickly into a maelstrom of "slightly confusing." To say the least, for days after the tape was screened, we had a bevy of English III students walking up to us in the crowded halls, looking at us as though we'd bombed a bus full of nuns, and simply saying, "I don't get it."
So, thirteen years later, I have used the advanced power of the HOME COMPUTERâ„¢ to bring the section more closely in line with our original vision.
Theen there's a pop quiz (more Channel One for you), and we murder two innocent high school students for spectacle. I figure that gave us the only creative writing project to have a body count of seven that year. Eight if you count the fact our victim from the PSA was supposed to go under the wheels of a raging 1971 Chevy Nova.
So, please, enjoy the dramatic conclusion of the KBGT News at Six. Now with more Apsartame.
We really should have done something about those scripts.
