If atheism, then, does morality follow? Is atheism moral, amoral or immoral? Can we get ethics and morality from atheism?

  • wow. very well put. sort of modern version of CS Lewis's arguments. Is this talk in a book anywhere? would like to buy it

  • @migaloosa

William Lane Craig does a lot on the Moral Argument. Also, Geisler in his books covers this issue. But, you can look for Bro. Fernandes's publications on this at biblicaldefense. org

Thank you for the positive comment and for posting.

  • @ChristianVoice08 the only thing jesus did off the top of my head that i disagreed with is when he said men shouldn't lie with men. i am heterosexual, don't get me wrong. but i don't see the problem with homosexuality (my little sister is a lesbian). in times where we needed men and women to procreate than it still should have been ok for homosexuals to sleep with each other after they impregnated a woman.

There is more evidence for Jesus than just about anyone else in his day! No honest scholar rejects the Historical Jesus not even those who hate Him.

Also, your standard does not match His. He showed good as being willing to DIE FOR OTHERS. Are you willing to die for me?

  • @ChristianVoice08 i like that verse, its a good example. once again jesus shows us to reduce suffering and to increase happiness. but this does not say that we should not stone people to death. he said not to stone that woman to death.

just because i am an atheist does not mean that i reject jesus as an example of a good humanitarian. i just don't believe in the divinity. if we exclude old testament laws and think of jesus than christianity would be a good way of life as far as conduct goes

  • John 8:10- When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

  • John 8:8- And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

  • @ChristianVoice08 one will do fine.

John 8:4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou? This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

  • @ChristianVoice08 i think jesus set a good example. i wish more people would follow his example. i believe that my version of morality matches very closely with the example that jesus set. i do not do as well as jesus did in the stories of the new testament. i will try harder. but i don't believe in the divinity, and i am not convinced that he is an actual historical person. however, that is beside the point, i think that jesus sets a good example, fictional or not.
