I'm not convinced that female child genital cutting is trivialized by opposing our own child genital cutting right here at home. The identical justifications are used for both boy and girl cutting.

Can you find a single person, anywhere in the world, who opposes boy cutting but supports girl cutting? I see plenty of people with the reverse attitude.

By opposing the cutting of girls in a faraway place while ignoring the cutting of boys right here at home, we are easily laughed off as hypocrites.

@loqiloqi Circumcision of men in the US is bad and it decreases pleasure for the man and the man pushes harder to feel something which is not good for the woman. What they do to the girls almost or completely removes any sexual feelings-women will never be tempted to have sex, but woman cannot enjoy sex with her husband. Sexual pleasure is for the man only. Some FGM causes grave health problems, painful sex, infections, urine & blood retention, problems with birth they have to be cut.

If you've never heard of circumcision killing boys, do an ounce of research.

Same goes for thinking women can't subsequently enjoy sex.

For someone to compare fgm and male circumcision as equally bad is ridiculous. I've never heard of someone's baby boy dying from getting circumcised. And men can still enjoy sexual pleasure, females that have fgm cannot. There is a reason why the name includes the word mutilated. Because not skin, but an actual body part is being cut off. It also can make sex painful for women and you can bleed to death. Men don't even remember being circumcised but these women never forget it.
