For the first time in over a year, I agreed to come out of retirement and play an organ recital. The date: Sunday, November 15, 2009. The location: Warrenton United Methodist Church, Warrenton, Virginia. The organ: a 12-rank Moeller. The recital: a benefit concert to fund the renovation of the 1980 instrument. The recording: from an unmonitored camcorde placed in the nave (in front of the first pew). This selection: "Vivace" from Voluntary #1 in D by English composer/organist, William Boyce (1711-1779)

  • Great performance and a wonderful piece too, I'm not familiar with it, but I like it now!

  • Glad to introduce this piece to you! I used to use it for most of my weddings as part of the opening organ voluntaries.

  • Absolutely splendid! Wonderful ornamentation and articulation.

  • Dear "C"

I am deeply grateful and honored by your appraisal of my playing.

  • great video, i really like your playing

a while ago we discussed if the bach piano concertos could be performed by organ. do you have an idea where i could find such a performance?

  • Thanks for your words!

Yes, The Swift-Cotrone Duo (my friend, Carlo, and I) joined forces to play organ and piano ---or--- organ and harpsichord settings of the C Major and C Minor Double Clavier Bach works; however, we do not have recordings of these transcriptions. Sorry!

  • BRAVO!

  • Dear Sir

A lovely piece excellently played! The Warrenton UMC organ certainly has a very bright trumpet, not even the Trompeta Real stop on my old school 56- rank organ (St. Johns College, Johannesburg South Africa) placed en chamade on the organ case compares with this!! Excellent voicing as well, on a relatively small 12- rank organ. Is this a regular trumpet stop you used, I have not been able to find much about this organ on the internet. I wish you well in your retirement...

  • lovely playing i thought, i like this piece, i am playing it for my school music competition on trumpet
