no question... steely dan music doesnt age or get dated for some reason... always fresh... like new. the writing is impeccable, the playing superb. any major dude knows this.

It's one of those bands that are just reaaally hard to hate. If anybody hears Steely Dan, they are more likely to ask "What's that great music?" rather than "What's that shit you're listening to?"

I have never in my life heard live music that i like better than the studio version, that being said i have been listening to some of the concerts on here and can honestly say that is no longer true. just plain awesome! no fireworks, crazy outfits, giant tounges, or jumping around like idiots.....just damn good sounding well played music, and a show that lets you concentrate on it!!!!

Herington is a hack and an embarassment - no one cares to hear his interpretation of the flawless original guitar parts. Total hack and not fit to fill in on short notice let alone as a featured performer.

Is it true that at least part of the reason Steely Dan didnt perform live in their earlier years very much was because Donald Fagan suffered from stage fright?

Beautiful...just beautiful. One of my top five bands of all time. This series thanks to drhey19 just reignites a passion for this freakin sound. I heard these guys hundreds of times, bought albums, 8-tracks and CDs. But I love the live music the best. Many thanks drhay19!
