One Day Without Shoes.

Hi everyone, I have had a nice long chat with Mr. Hansen, our principal, and he has informed me that it is in fact AGAINST HEALTH CODE to go barefoot at school.
Therefore, I am going to need an exceptional amount of effort from you guys outside of school to make this successful. TAKE PICTURES! TAKE LOTS OF PICTURES! Just walk outside for a few minutes and around your house barefoot, and snap a photo. And make sure that if anyone asks why you're not wearing shoes, you tell them "TO RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT THE AMOUNT OF CHILDREN ALL OVER THE WORLD WHO DO NOT HAVE A SINGLE PAIR OF SHOES!"

Could you do for ONE day what millions do EVERY day?

It's coming up, April 8th.
And I've decided to get it started in our area.
One Day Without Shoes.
Started by the shoe company TOMS, this is a one-day event to raise awareness about the impact one pair of shoes can have on a child's life.

Fact:
In Ethiopia, approximately one MILLION people are suffering from podoconiosis, a debilitating and disfiguring disease caused by walking in volcanic soil. It is 100% preventable with basic hygiene and wearing shoes.

Please participate in this day with me!
Even if you can only go barefoot for an hour of the day, expirience it and feel what it's like to walk around with no protection on your feet.

We honestly did the same thing Ellie. I talked to the principal about it, all professional and such, and he said we couldn't. (he was way nice about it though) But we just blew him off and did it anyway... Haha it was a good day. Thanks to everyone.

Mr. Hansen has informed me that there is no way we can do it in school, it's against health code. We will have to do it outside of school, which means everyone will really have to do their part and take pictures!

You should have asked him to show you that health code, since I doubt he could have produced one. Afaik, nobody has ever found a law, regulation, health code, or insurance policy that forbids going barefoot (other than in situations requiring specific protective footwear), for the simple reason that there's nothing unhealthy about it.

Mr. Hansen is a friend of our family. If he said you could not do it, he said it for a reason. But hey, he obviously doesn' t know what he is talking about right? So just go ahead and blow him off. If anyone gets injured or hurt then he gets in trouble and the school system gets sued. But what do you care about a nice guy like him, it does not affect you. IDIOT!
