Please don't think I'm being disrepectful, and please excuse my ignorance, but how do locs work for white people? I ask because I know you have to wash your hair more frequently than we do, and if so isn't that a bit unhygienic? I was told you don't want to wash your hair very often we starting locs as to not unravel the progress you've made.

@Kieshaleigh i use a small hook to form locs on str8 hai...clients should wash there hair twice a month just like everyone else....a person should ony go 4 weeks with out washing there hair!!!!!!!!

did you flip the roots? i have thin caucasian hair too and the lady i went to did the root flipping method and im hoping my dreads thicken as much as this chicks did

@bagface899 do you really even need a reason? Why does anyone wear their hair the way they do in the first place? because they think it looks cool, or they look good. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder - why should we have a reason for wearing our hair in dread locks aside from BECAUSE WE WANT TO. that is reason enough. why dont you ask other people why they rock different hair styles, and I would LOVE to hear the "right" reasons for getting dread locks.

I know dreads are universal and everyone can have them but most I think that most White people wanna get em for the wrong reasons

@bagface899 Locs have been around since before the time of Christ. There are records of the Celts wearing Locs...and I don't believe they were specifically associated with people of African origin. Some Hindu priests wear their hair in locs. There are even records of the Ancient Egyptians wearing them, as well as many people in the region of Oceania. In short, Locs are for everybody, regardless of creed, ethnic group, or color.

In my opinion White people shouldn't get dreads it's more of an African hairstyle and in some cases has meaning to the reason of having them
