The Red Robin's Song (original song)

I like Robins!

The Robin is said to have Christ's blood on its breast because it visited the crucifixion and tried to pull the thorns from Christ's head.

Or it may be that they have red breasts to give us hope in the cold of winter?

Or it may be so that they can attract your attention when you are walking through the woods on Christmas day so that you give them bits of your mince pies!! And you'll wonder, as they hop from tree to tree then disappear whether it is just one Robin or two or maybe more, trying to make you feel guilty that you fed one and not the other in a somewhat crafty attempt to get more mince pie crust, which would seem to fit their inquisitive and curious manner.

In Victorian times, postmen wore a red uniform and were known as "Robin redbreasts". They were servants of the Crown, whose national colour was red, and there were postal deliveries on Christmas day well into our the last century. So the Robin, the postman and the gifts which he brought, became associated.

Or it could be that I am talking nonsense, in which case I apologise for wasting your precious time! :)
